61st Annual NWNPC - Friday, April 28 - Sunday, April 30, 2017
2017 is our 61st gathering! NWNPC has been the place where NDs around the Pacific Northwest have gathered to share their wisdom and camaraderie since 1957! Our 61st annual convention will be held April 28 - 30, 2017, at the Pan Pacific Hotel and Vancouver Convention Centre.
We have another excellent lineup this year, including:
Nigel Plummer, PhD
Robert Rountree, MD
Jonathan V Wright, MD
Molly Niedermeyer, ND, LM
We will be welcoming NDs from BC, throughout Canada and the United States. Take a look at our schedule and the speaker bios for more details. If you have any questions about this year's convention not answered by the website, please email Glenn Cassie and he would be happy to help.
Dr. Alexander Goumeniouk is an expert in anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders and other psychoses. As a professor emeritus at UBC, and the clinical psychiatrist at Orchard Recovery—a rehabilitation centre focused on assisting clients by reducing the stigma of addiction—he has decades of experience in pharma and non-pharma interventions for wellness. He has taught at UBC for 23 years and received 11 teaching awards during his career. These include the Killam Faculty-wide teaching prize in 1995. As a resident in psychiatry he received the National Institute of Mental Health resident of the year award, being the only Canadian to do so in the history of this award. He also received the Laughlin Fellowship from the American College of Psychiatry and the Mead Fellowship from the Association of Academic Psychiatry. Join us Friday morning for a lively pharm lecture with “Dr. Dooley.”
Come celebrate and honor our roots with an excellent set of lectures and entertaining evenings with your friends! Hob-nob with some founding members and enjoy Vancouver's beautiful harbour waterfront. We have several social events planned including the Dr. Chris Turner Reception with live music from Mike Massé! Relax and connect with old friends and make new ones!
Our convention wouldn't exist without our exhibitors and sponsors. We can give you an opportunity to get in front of our physicians and students and let them know what you have to offer. Besides a booth (check out the floor plan), we also have sponsorships for food breaks, bag inserts and other items.
Please see our Exhibitor Registration page for more details.
Our host hotel is the beautiful Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver. It sits directly above the convention centre. Each room hash spectacular views -- across the harbour, the city, the North Shore mountains and west to Stanley Park. We have a very special room rate, available until March 28, of $199 CAD (approximately $150 USD) per night. Book your room here.
The NWNPC room block for Thursday, April 27, is full, although rooms are still available for Friday, Saturday, Sunday. As the Northwest coincides with another convention, there are at present no additional rooms available on the 27th at the $199 CDN ($150 USD) rate using the online registration. You can contact the hotel directly to inquire about availability. Dial 604-662-8111 and ask to speak to hotel reservations at extension 4004 or email Johnny Kwok our hotel representative. In the alternative, if you use a third party provider, such as Hotwire, narrow your search to “Coal Harbour.” Any hotel in the Coal Harbour neighbourhood is within walking distance to the Convention Centre.
